There are many interesting places to visit in and around Braidwood.

Braidwood district is noted for its surrounding National Parks, forests and rivers. The area is renowned for trout fishing, bush walking and gold panning in the rivers that are also good for swimming in the summer.

Drive / Walks
The natural environment is close to the town for bush walks from the easy to the difficult to place like the Big Hole a natural limestone fault.

The Water Wheel used to generate electricity for an old timber mill. Flora and fauna in the Monga forest. national parks and rivers. Good for fishing or a spot of gold panning.


Take a drive to Araluen, the valley of peace, famous for peaches during the summer months travel back along the gold route to the village of Majors Creek; venue for the festival Music at the creek.

Travel out to the Budawang Mountains the Shoalhaven and Mongarlowe rivers and other National parks for walk, scenery, flora and fauna with provided areas for picnics.

Only a few km out on the Kings highway to the coast is Monga Forest with a board walk through the tree ferns.
